GXportal | | | | How to configure the search for forum messages |
We can use the Search GXportlet to allow users to do searches for forum messages.
To do this, we must configure, for that GXportlet, the “Search type” property with value “Forums” and in the “Search filters” group of properties, we may configure the “Forum” and “Forum category” properties that will act as filters at the time of the search.
When nothing is specified in the filter properties, the search is done on all messages with “Online” status of all forums published. When we configure a forum as filter, then the search will only be done on messages in that forum. When we configure a category, then the search will include all messages of the forums that belong to that category.
After we have done the above, we must build a page to show the search’s results, using the Search Results GXportlet. For this page to be shown when we search in the Search GXportlet, we must configure, in the “Results” property group, the link type to point at it.
Also, from the page that will show the results in the GXportlet which is used for this, we must configure a link to the page where we will show the detail of the message found. To this end, we must configure the property “Link to view forum message” that is part of the “Results” group of properties.
And last, the page used to show the details of the message found must contain the “List of messages” GXPortlet.
If we have all this configured, we may then allow our users the possibility of searching among the forum messages, and the results will show the most recent messages first.
