Roles are profiles that allow grouping users who perform a certain task, thus making it easier to configure the portal and GXportal security features. Permissions and restrictions can be applied to them in relation to the various elements in the portal.
Roles are assigned to users, and are managed from Settings – Roles as shown in the image below.
There are three types of roles: Backend, frontend and application roles.
Backend roles: These are the roles that give access to the GXportal backend. Read about the various types of roles here.
Frontend roles: They are the roles that users can take while navigating the production website.
Application roles: These roles are assigned to an application, and upon selecting this option an application must be chosen in order to view the roles assigned to it.
